Back in 1989 Sijo J. Patenaude started what we called back then “Special Classes” reserved only for advanced students who wanted to test their skill and whom wanted to dabble in various arts and pull from it what they felt best suited their personal style.
These were 5 hour long classes within a 10 week program. Many good fighters spawned from those classes, myself included.
Me and other Senior Sifus are by-products of these Special Classes. Without a doubt, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today if I hadn’t been part of that private group of students.
But this class design was flawed in a way.
Only advanced students had access to these classes and when we streamlined our curriculum most of these drills and techniques were kept for the higher ranks within the FSD System.
Problem: Nobody got to do them except a select few that stuck around long enough after black belt.
So we decided to change this format for something much, much better.
We moved all of the advanced techniques we’ve developed from those 21 years of “Special Classes” from the higher ranks and laid them out in the junior levels.
Some of our findings were better suited for Competition while others were too brutal and needed to be kept for our Self-Defense/Kung-Fu Program, a part of our program reserved only for people who needed to use their training to protect themselves or their loved ones in a real life threatening attack.
The other half of our findings went into this program, The Sanshou/MMA Program. Here you’ll find the best conditioning drills, techniques and principles to be successful in tournaments and competitions.
If competing is something you would like to do one day then this is the best place for you to start.
Competing doesn’t interest me, can I still participate in this program?
Some of our students have no desire to ever compete and that’s totally okay. This program is also suitable for people who want to get in shape quickly, lose Belly-Butt-Hip-Arm Fat in a flash, increase Cardio, Coordination and Flexibility and whom passing belts and moving up in rank doesn’t really interest them.
Also, this program is designed to be simple and fast to learn. Get to know all of your basic hand and foot Combinations and Strikes, Footwork, Defensive Skills, How to use equipment like the Focus Mitts, Heavy Bag, Thai Bag, Thai Pads, Speed Bag and top & bottom bag. Learn Sparring Drills to increase Timing, Reflexes, and Confidence.
One thing for sure, this program is high energy with results guaranteed.
